A Family Shares How Living in a Village Helps Them Thrive in the New Normal
September 09, 2021
House hunting in the New Normal has its challenges. Aside from taking design, location, and floor area into consideration, health and safety are top of mind, as well as looking for a home that could easily adapt to changing living situations. These factors were all addressed when Karen Joy and Vincent Saipudin bought their own house and lot in Iloilo; in fact, it was a move that benefited the young couple immediately. Karen, who works as a senior nurse at a government hospital, has been married to Vincent, a Google Cloud Consultant, for six years; and they have two children. Even early on in their marriage, they figured that it was best for their growing family to own a home. “It was back in 2016 when we decided we should stop renting,” Karen shares about their house hunt. “We’ve been to most of the subdivisions and villages in Iloilo, but Avida Village captured our hearts.” The couple relates that at first, they thought the property was out of their league and that the house they wanted wasn’t available, but they patiently waited. “The start of 2018 was when we were informed again by our agent that a Stella Unit was available, so we did not skip this opportunity, and started paying the downpayment.”
It took approximately six months for the home to be built, and it was well worth the wait. The two-storey, three-bedroom, and two-toilet-and-bath Stella Unit has a contemporary-modern architectural design, a neutral color palette, and a spacious, well-articulated layout that are ideal for families. But aside from the modern and efficient design, there were bonuses: the generous lot cuts, numerous pocket parks, a basketball court, swimming pool, and generous outdoor spaces. “The ambience of Avida Village is on another level; the houses are spaced properly and the lot has an allocated parking area,” Karen shares. “The village amenities are also properly maintained. Security is very important; we really appreciate the strict security protocols imposed by the village.” These outdoor areas are plus factors for the Saipudins, and thankfully, they fulfill the New Normal requirement for open-air amenities and outdoor areas. This was such a big relief for Karen, who needed safe outdoor spaces for her toddler and baby. And as an athlete who puts importance on regular exercise and an active lifestyle, she also appreciates these amenities. “Our family is taking advantage of the wide and open spaces of Avida Village; from walking the kids and jogging, it’s very convenient, and there’s no need to go out of the village.” A peek at Karen’s [Instagram account](https://www.instagram.com/kaerenyosa/) shows the family strolling safely in the wide streets, playing in the pocket parks, and celebrating life’s little milestones at home. Another New Normal perk of the Saipudin’s home is the flexibility of its spaces that allows you to integrate study rooms or home offices. Vincent, who has been working-from-home since 2015, uses one of the second-floor bedrooms as his home office. “This is also one of the reasons we waited patiently for the Stella Unit, since it has three bedrooms and we can use one room as our dedicated office,” Karen says.
This particular house’s flexibility also allows for future home renovations. Karen and Vince plan to build an extension consisting of a bigger kitchen and a garage. “We already have a design in mind and we are going for Minimalism, a practice we’ve gotten into since we were married.” Aside from the outdoor spaces and amenities, one of the main highlights of the village is its location. “It’s convenient, as it’s a 30-minute drive to malls, the airport, the city, and even to my workplace,” Karen says. And as a sprawling estate in one of the main growth centers of the Visayas region, the homes in Avida Village Iloilo are also flexible; as its spaces could adapt and pivot to changing needs and lifestyles, especially in the New Normal. For the Saipudin family, it’s an ideal place to live—and to thrive. “Avida living is happy living! My husband and I often talk about how grateful we are to have our kids grow up in a safe and friendly community; we have a beautiful environment and we enjoy the well-maintained amenities,” Karen enthuses. “Living here is one of the best decisions we’ve made.” If you want your own place to live and thrive like the Saipudin family, head over www.avidaland.com to see how Avida can welcome you.
